Introduced alongside the Amazon Business American Express Card, the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card offers payment flexibility and a host of favorable rewards for small businesses. With an Amazon Prime account and membership, cardholders can benefit from either 5% back on eligible purchases or 90-day interest-free terms.

THE REWARDS

Cardholders have two options for how they can earn rewards: either receive cash back on eligible purchases (up to $120,000 per year, with cardholders receiving a fixed rate of 1% cash back thereafter), or benefit from a 90-day interest-free window on their purchases. It is important to note that cash back comes to cardholders in the form of Amazon reward points, which can then be applied to purchases on card statements or at the Amazon.com checkout.

Given that it is an Amazon credit card, the most sizable benefits come from Amazon-related purchases, with cardholders receiving 5% cash back on purchases from Amazon.com, Amazon Business, Amazon Web Services and Whole Foods Market. However, cardholders can also receive 2% cash back from purchases made at U.S. restaurants, gas stations and wireless telephone services, as well as 1% cashback on purchases made elsewhere.

THE PERKS

Ownership of the Amazon Business American Express Card comes with a whole host of benefits, such as express service, quantity discounts and employee purchase control. With the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card, cardholders can also expect these benefits, along with these additional perks:

The receipt of a $125 Amazon.com gift card.
A 90-day interest-free period for the duration of card ownership.
No foreign transaction fees, making international travel cheaper.
Purchase protection, extended warranty protection and travel protection.
Access to a number of expense management tools, including Quickbooks, Vendor Pay by Bill.com and the American Express Business App.

THE FEES AND CONDITIONS

Customers receive cash back in the form of Amazon reward points. As such, ownership of the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card does not require an annual fee, but Amazon Prime membership is necessary in order to take full advantage of the card’s benefits.

A personal Amazon Prime membership costs $119 a year, or $12.99 a month. Alternatively, Business Prime membership is a separate membership option, with prices starting at $69.

For those who don’t wish to open an Amazon Prime account, another credit card would be more suitable (for example, the Amazon Business American Express Card does not require Prime Membership. However, the benefits aren’t quite as extensive).

In addition to having Amazon Prime membership, in order to be approved, the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card also requires a good to excellent credit score rating.

THE COMPARISON

Amazon Business Prime American Express Card vs Ink Business Cash® Credit Card

The rewards: Both offer 5% cash back, but the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card has a lower limit of $25,000 per year compared to Amazon’s $120,000. On the other hand, the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card offers 0% introductory APR on purchases for 12 months as opposed to Amazon’s 90 days.
The perks: The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card offers $750 cash back if customers spend $7500 in the first three months. In contrast, the Amazon Business Prime Card offers an unconditional $125 Amazon Gift Card.
The fees: The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card has no annual fee.

Amazon Business Prime American Express Card vs American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card

Amazon Business Prime American Express Card vs Capital One Spark Cash Plus

The rewards: The Capital One Spark Cash Plus card offers 2% cash back on every purchase with no limits. However, your balance is due in full every month.
The perks: New cardholders can earn up to a $3,000 cash bonus.
The fees: There is a $150 annual fee.
